The Brief

BYSP commissioned us to come up with the ideation for the brand activation of NSG’s pop-up shop for the launch of their debut album ‘Area Boyz’. NSG is an East London rap collective leading the UK afro-swing music scene.

We aimed to transform the space inside and out to give the fans a true feel of the NSG brand authenticity. We brainstormed some ideas for the design of the shop front including their logo, album title, and album imagery, and recreated our version of the car used on the album cover. For the shop signage, we chose to use the ‘Teenage Dreams’ font and then used this throughout the shop design.

We created all the design assets for the interior setup, we wanted to showcase the album and where they come from. On the first floor, we had the album cover printed on the floor, a projection of their music videos on the left wall, merch hanging from the ceiling, the DJ booth with NSG’s logo, printed on the ceiling, the album tracklist printed above the DJ booth and blocked out the windows behind with images of their estate blocks.

Then downstairs we created a backdrop for the merch to hang in the arches which was a collage of their estate blocks and then created a 2m x 6m long collage wall of NSG throughout their career.
